A Road Trip (the condensed version)

This past weekend I stole my friend Stacie’s car for a little road trip. When I began I knew only one thing I was heading south away from Auckland as for the rest I “let fate decide”. Buy the end of my first day I stopped in New Plymouth I climbed this big rock thing and watched the sunset it was amazing. I had a little trouble finding a place to stay as I was informed that I had chosen to visit New Plymouth at the same time as the Heavy Metal band Motor Head, and that all rooms had been booked up. So I ended up staying in a hostel with a bunch of crazy Heavy Metal fans… The next morning I got an early start and headed into town where I noticed a pub open at 8:30 in the morning. I peaked in and realized that I was missing the final game of the Rugby World Cup and that is how I found myself drinking a Guinness in and Irish pub in New Zealand at 8:30 in the morning, Guinness it’s the breakfast of champions?

I went on to Mt. Egmount, a volcano that last erupted some time ago, I hiked around and looked for Kiwi birds though none showed themselves. It was so amazing how the mountain dominated the landscape there is literally no other mountain around and then there it is!

For my final night I stayed in Palmerston North, it has since been described to me as the Bakersfield of New Zealand, but even at that it was still pretty and I got to go to the Rugby Museum kind of like the baseball hall of fame, if it was ran out of a garage… but still pretty cool.

I then traveled back up north to return home, but not until I partook in a little childish fun… That’s right I found Mt. Doom from the Lord of the Rings!!! Let the envy simmer for a bit… I think that is about all I should say as I know there are many of you who are wanting to do physical harm to me while there are others who think of me as a big loser anyway it was still pretty crazy.

As I finished my journey I sat on a river bank to watch the sunset… It is amazing here there is no other way to describe it.

Know that you are all missed even in the midst of this great adventure…

I think you are a dork..... but Josh is insanely jealous about the whole Mt. Doom thing. So you pick whose opinion you wish you savor. Love the pictures!!!!! I am jealous of the fact that you got to go on a road trip and photograph your adventures. Some day I will go to the Galapagos!!!

Mayhaps if the day had not held so much Guiness, then you would have been able to find me a kiwi. Did you at least buy me a souvenir at the Rugby museum? Did Stacie's car come back in one piece? Did you have to impersonate the metalheads in order to survive in the hostel?...you have left out all the important details.

I must agree with Beulah that you have left out something and that is the third category of people who think you are a nerd AND want to cause you bodily harm. Of course I'm not saying I'm one of them, I'm just trying to look out for you so that you don't offend groups by overlooking them.
