They tell me it’s Spring…

They tell me it’s spring, but I don’t really believe them, first of all there are Halloween and Christmas decorations popping up in the stores. Secondly it has been cold, then rainy then sunny, then thunder and lightning and that was just this week. All around is the amazing revelation of Gods power through His creation. Last week while hiking I saw more amazing plants and animals I had never seen before, and then I experienced some of the most powerful wind while standing at the top of a cliff overlooking the ocean, it literally knocked me off balance.

This week also brought with it my first experience shopping in NZ. “What could be complicated about buying food” I thought… plenty. First of all you must get past the problems of language, Biscuits are cookies, colby cheese is actually swiss, and bagel chips are in the international section. Second you must accept that some things, ok most things are more expensive here. Tortillas eight pack $5, Cheerios $8, limes $25 per Kg. looks like there are going to be few burrito nights and Corona is going to have to settle for lemons. One redeeming factor is the readily available Indian and Thai food!

All in all I am still getting the hang of things including driving on the left side of the road; it should be on your list of things to do before you die… I am missing everyone who might be reading this tons and encourage you all to write.

quick update New Zealand lost their game against France this morning, I saw grown men fall silent and little girls crying... This is a tough loss but rest assured NZ will be back in four years... and then it will be here.

Joe, this is all so amazing! Those views are absolutely beautiful. It look like your time there is being very well spent. Stay long enough for Chis and I to come visit, okay!?
I've had family that lived in Australia for some time...they too identified with the grocery shopping adventures. Bagel chips in the international section, huh. Well I know we have said this thousands of times, but Chris and I are so excited for you. We look forward to reading more of your blogs as the days go by.

Hi Joe Joe!

I am bummed we didn't really get to hang out before you left to the other side of the planet. But I am very excited for you and where God has brought you! So I can't cry too much. I love the pictures. You must promise to send lots so I may succesfully live vicariously through you. :o) Excitement in my life comes in a different variety..... baking cookies, realizations that Rhian has been fully potty trained for 4+ months now and I have not had to change any diapers in that time!!!!!!!, Benedryl really does help me sleep, a Disneyland vacation is awaiting me next month... and so on. You are in our thoughts and prayers. I will check back often!
